Hi guys,,

Haven't seen too much traxter stuff so I'd figure
I'd start a thread.
An update on my traxter. It was at the dealer for count 'em (5) WEEKS and i'ts still not fixed! I did speak to BOMB and, get this, they are coming to my hooch, personally, to check it out! I spoke to someone (engineer type) and he along with a fellow engineer, plan on coming to my house to inspect the traxter sometime during the first week of december. It still makes the hydraulic noise while warming up and while shifting.
We'll see how that works out. I just want a machine that doesn't have the optional sound package!

Anyway, how's everyone's else's BOMB holding out
any problems?
If anyone has any specific questions about their machine, let me know. I'll ask the reps while they are here.

P.S. based on the VIN, he told me EXACTLY what time and day my machine was assembled. Also he could tell me if there were any QC issues with it!
Pretty slick!

JC

Hello John,
How many miles on your Traxter? My XT has 390 and has showed no problems during the short ammount of time I have used it. I've mostly been using mine to skid logs around the backyard and have been giving serious thought to adding a snowplow. Have you noticed that Bombardiers list of ATV accesories has grown quite extensive yet they do not offer a 5' plow. I can't imagine a 4' plow on a machine like the Traxter!

Hello neighbours to the south,

I've put about 300 miles on my XT without any problems except a broken beed on left rear tire, which was covered. I've noticed the little hydraulic noise when shifting, but really doesn't bother me. I have noticed occasional backfire during hard downshifting. I am happy with it's
torque. It seems to climb any hill and go through any mud hole. I was looking at getting a windshield, the dealer told me I would have remove the handgaurds, that doesn't make sense?
I looked at plow it seemed alittle expensive,$700
cdn. I agree a 5 footer would make more sense.

later, Randy...

I've got around 250 miles. It's been making this noise since right around 20-30 miles. The dealer that had it tore it down to replace both the pressure regulators to no avail.
As far as the machine itself....It's OK. I'm really not very happy with the mudding capability
(stock tires REALLY stink). Also the transmission shifts very slowly....making it difficult to accelerate briskly.
If anyone is interested, I believe there is a dude on EBAY who sells ATV plows. I think he may have one for the traxter. Just do a search on ATV plow and his ads will show...

I'm glad you like your traxter...knowing what I know now...I wish I would've bought something else....

ranpap, The XT handguards and the windshield with handguards are different setups. My traxter has a windshield with handguards combo, I thought I could take the windshield off and have the same handguards as the XT but didn't work.

Both are Bomb accessories.

Hi guys. Mi first post!! I am the owner of a 2000yr Traxter (Model #7419) with 2000+km. What prompted me to join was not that many Traxter owners reporting long term usage of this machine. Like I have said, I have accumalated 2000 Km. with this machine with no failures to report, very reliable. Initial minor problem was backfiring, which was fixed with a minor carb adjustment after breakin. The things that I have grown to appreciate with this machine is the flawless 4W drive system, the walk through design, the radiator in the back design and the one of the most overlook thing is the large "trunk" in the front.
What it is, is not a speed demon, but for a 50+ year old rider, who cares !
If you want (need) a reliable, functional ATV, the Traxter is my choice !

Well, here's the deal
Likes:
-built well (except for the optional sound package!)
-front diff works well
-lot's of storage
-access to engine
- design seems solid
- Instrumentation
- seems durable (although I bent a tie rod EASILY while attempting to climb through some brush)
- radiator in the rear (big +)
- steers easily when broken in
Dislikes:
- Dealer support
- Shifter
- stock tires (really suck)
- width of machine
- drive mode selector (high/low/reverse)
- cold weather starting
- Based on 500cc engine, doesn't seem to have to appropriate power (maybe because of weight??)
- Body work scratches VERY easy - much easier than the Polaris I previously had
- rides very rough (I've also a 300 AC 4x4 -real comfy)
- large turning radius (all turns in woods are 3pt)
- relatively loud

I think, knowing what I know now, I would've closely looked at the AC 500 4x4. I bought the 300 and love it. The diff on the 500 isn't quite what the traxters is but the 500 seemed to do well in the connection's shootout with the XT.

I like Polaris but I feel they are overpriced and
the quality leaves a little to be desired. I also don't like the electronically engaged hubs.

Suzuki makes good engines and tranny's but the quads are overpriced and, in my opinion, old technology

Yamaha's are ok. I've a couple friends with them
and they are just ok

Honda's are super reliable but ride like lumber wagons and again are overpriced for what you get
(front diffs aren't that good on Honda's and YAM's

I beleive AC's are the best bang for the buck

I hope that the rep from BOMB will get get my situation resolved soon. I'm also in the market for a new sled and, depending in how BOMB addresses my problem, they might have a repeat customer in the snowmobile market

Hoped this helped.....JC

Traxter99 owner.
What a mess, coldest starting machine ever.Don't buy the plow the tranny won't let you shift quickly and turning radious is poor.Works well on long straight driveways but otherwise shovel is faster. My hydraulic noise quit on its own.Lights flicker on dasboard, gas gage does not work.In repair for 6months with internal damage.Blamed me of course, needed lawyer to get it back.BOMB made a lot of promises sided with dealer after promising a quick fix.
I added heated grips and love them, winch is ok.Machine backfires and sputters every couple of uses.Plugs foul easily.I too fell in love with the design and have owned many Bomb products. This is the worst.Hey,I've owned lots of good machinery, just my turn in the barrel.Use it for mowing, tried snow plowing,it don't get it.My windscreen is removable while keeping guards attched,I like it.
I have a hitch question?Does anyone know of a way to get a real hitch on the back?I welded 2" sq. and added ball for mower it's sagging and I would like to stiffen it up.Machine likes pulling but hitch has no support. All ideas are appreciated.Rotax is normally fine engine mine is not,
Please e-mail me with any individual questions or if you have an answer to my probs.Dealership here sells plenty works on nuttin.Has no idea, and ya get what ya get.
Though most atv's have hi resale this model appears to be soft and unwanted.

Bomb.is not gonna back you up.
Dealer is most important cause your gonna have problems!

second traxter 2001 xt 950 trouble free miles so far. first traxter 1999, computer and wire harness smoked ,dealers fault. winch install, wired wrong, things happen. i beat the hell out out of this thing at the edinboro pa. poker run, newtrail, mud was thick and slick, big time fun.seen quite a few polarises with thier nose in the creek, radiators plugged, polarises remind me of chevetes, junk, and i darn sure wouldnt ride any jap junk.no matter what you ride its gonna break sooner or later.so be happy, have fun, dont buy jap junk, and if you need a push the bomb will be there. for you bomb owners, run 26-12-12 blackwaters on all four, works great.you wanna get rid of the backfire, pull the return spring out of the carb and cut off 3/8 of an inch,no more backfire.the backfires are created because the return spring slams the slide down to quick when you let off the throttle creating a lean condition. ho ho ho merry xmas
