I made the mistake of leaving the key in the DS and one of my kids turned the key and the lights on and ran down the battery. I haven't been able to get the battery to charge with the trickle charger. When I jump start it it sounds fine until I give it gas then it sputters and acts like a car with timing off. It won't rev and won't go. I made sure the plug wires were on good, unsure where to check next, could use some help, thanks! It sputtered even while hooked up to the car battery.

I know it wont run with a bad battery. But if you tried another one, im not sure

 

I bought the battery new about a year ago. It is an odyssey drycell. Don't these things have a 2 year warranty?

 

I hooked it to the car battery with jumper cables. Not a direct hook up!

 

Hey newbomber, if you need to borrow a battery give me a ring and I'll pull mine off and let you see if that is your problem, I know you had plans over the 4th and I would hate to see them spoiled waiting on a new battery, if that turns out to be the problem. Check your PM's and I'll leave my #

 

Thanks RotaxsRok, I have the original battery that it came with on the charger right now and will try it out later. Hopefully it is the battery and not something more serious!

 

this hapened to me once also....first of course try to charge the battery ans see if that works...if not jump/pop it and when its running turn the lights on and try to run it...

i killed my battery over the winter and it would jump/pop start and only idle..if i touched the gas it would spudder and stall...then someone on here told me to start it and told me to turn my lights on then it ran great unless it stalled...turned out i killed my regulator and battery...

I put the recharged original battery on and it started right up and ran great. Thanks guys for your help. Case Closed!
