I have a 2000 ds 650 that ran perfect a couple weeks ago then suddenly it just started to start really hard like take a lot of pushes on the button but does start after a couple minutes later it pops off and runs perfect. iv charged the battery and it still does it it only does it when it hasnt been started for a couple hours but starts right up after it has been run.

When was the last time you had your valves adjusted. My $$$$ is on that. As I put more time on my DS it started to be a pain to start until I had the valves adjusted.... then it was smooth as the day I rolled her out of the dealership. Check you valves.

Does the starter actually engage, and turn the motor over, or does the starter just spin, and it takes a couple times to get it to engage and turn the motor over? If it just spins and doesn't turn the motor over, it's your starter clutch, mine went out about a month ago.

If your engine is not turning over at all, then it is not your valves. If it is turning over and just not starting then check valve clearance. If your not turning over at all a compression check may be in order. Maybe try pulling a spark plug and turn the engine by hand to make sure you are OK there. Let us know what you find.

I don't think he meant that it wasen't turning over. I think he meant it wasen't firing. I think the valves needing adjustment is spot on. It starts hard cold but starts easier after it is warm, or so it appears
