Im watchen the temp gauge every day! as soon as the temp drops were riding, planning maybe around Sept 22/23 if the temp drops.......hopen the 720 kit will be done by then.

The temp dropped last weekend enough to make a trip to Buttercup. It was only about 85 until 11:00 or so, and even then it was only in the high 90's. Me and one of my buddies rode for 3 hours without crossing another set of tracks... it was almost impossible to see where the dunes were heading without any other signs of life out there. The bike was running pretty hot so we cut it kind of short... still jad a blast. The sand was incredably soft, as it usually is during the summer, but an awsome trip to get a small fix mid summer. My first real trip will be in the middle of October.

I agree with Holly "BUTTERCUP" cuz if it gets to hot, run off to Mexico and pound some Pacificos till it cools off.

 

Yea, we usually take one crazy trip in the middle of the summer every year... just to get a fix... this year it worked out so well that we could not have asked for a better weekend. After the first ride we were taking a break at the truck and a huge dark thundercloud rolled over the dunes... dropped the temp about 10 degrees and we were off again. It was so nice we didn't even need to jump in the canal.

ERBE, we used to ride into Mex all the time... until some banditos rolled up on some friends of mine with sawed off shotguns... they were lucky they all had gear on and were getting ready to go... my buddy on a 250R saw the gun and threw a monster roost on them and everyone broke... 5th gear wide open for a couple miles. One guy blew up his 450R on the way out. Crazy... needless to say we try to stay out of Mex now.

 

WOW!!!!!!! Never had anything like that happen, worse case we we stopped by the US Border patrol , and was told WE ENTERED MEXICO illegally! Told the guy, well hell aint that a switch! needless to say they dont have a sense of humor, was given a warning and rode off, but dealing with Banditos <--sounds like Doritos gone bad!
sucks, makes it ruff to wanna go back, I was going to plan a San Felipe trip in April.

 

Yeah, I was going to ask if you could still ride across into Algones? Last time I went over for tacos it took all most 3-hours to get back across on foot. I have not seen anyone that has ridden across from the dunes in a while.

 

You can still just run the south side of the freeway all the way to the border entry and cross legaly or if you were raised in that area and know the game you can "cruz" right in to town from the back side.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]
