Stock Carb Mods

I have to clean up this carb site up and put into a summary.

Getting ready for second surgery, so be patience and if you need assistance, just ask.

Pull out one of your spark plugs.
If the porcelain is lightly tanned and the end of the plug(where the threads end) is black/grey, everything is fine.
If end of plug is grey and has open area's(no color) and the porcelain is mostly white, you may want to jet up one size larger.

Read Stock Carb Mods and let me know what your thoughts are.

I got it omr I am problably going to take the plugs out tonight or tom and take a look at it I have noticed that there was a slight backfire only when I was turning it off but I think that is due to the heat so I ordered new antifreeze engine ice to take care of that problem and was just curious on jetting because when I first got the quad I had someone else do it for me but I later did it myself as I had to clean the jets and my diaphram was allowing air to get through. Thanks I will check them out and read your gidelines.
Step 4 – General Jetting

I prefer to use the Dynojet Kit.(Moose is the same)
The needle is up to .011 thinner in mid range. All around riding gives better throttle response.
For drag only applications the stock needle is very adequate.
Stock CDI:
Needle clip in 2nd groove from top.
3rd groove if exhaust system is over rev design. Testing required.

CDI with noted aggressive timing. I have a new Big Gun and works fine.
Needle in the 3rd groove from top.
4th groove if through testing works.

omr I took out my plug and have had problems with it backfiring but I just solved that it was a coolant problem my bike was getting too hot and I also believe it was due to my jetting so I took out my plug and it had a white tip which is lean correct so I adjusted my jetting and everything seems to be running good.

If when doing a high speed downshift,
the exhaust backfires lightly,
turn out the pilot jet screw 4 turns, from all the way in.

PS- going to my trailer for the weekend, catch up on monday if you need more help.
Have a great weekend.

it was runnign good til i let it sit longer and then it backfired alright well I took it out with the new engine ice makes a hell of a difference before it only backfired when turning it off ...I have an alba full system with a K&N and no airbox lid(main jet is a 185) so i adjusted the pilot jet like you said and then it started to backfire out of my exhaust at only one turn which isnt good...I also think that my gas tank has the vent tube kinked on the side and will check that out...it only backfires after warming up and running for a little while...should I change my main jet or what thanks. if i have the pilot turned in all the way it runs fine until i shut it off and i tried 4 turns also and same response..so thats why I have come to the conclusion of the main jet.
