Default Cams question

When you send in Cams for a core charge, what exactly do you do? Do you remove the sprockets from them? What about the decompression lever? I have heard you do not put the decompression lever back on the new ones is that true? I am trying to scrounge enough for some cams before DS Days, any help available please????

RWR will take the sprocket but not the compression release. If you dont remove it, you wont get one with it back!

It makes it easier to turn over, by releasing cylinder pressure at low rpms. It not a necessity.

I take a towel, and wrap it around the cam until there is no towel left hanging, then put it in the vice, and take a punch and punch it out. You need to be very careful not to damage the cams, so wrap that towl tight, and use enough to protect it. Its a bugger the first time.
