i was riding earlier and all the sudden it sputtered out of the hole and so i let of n went to hit it again n nothing it sputtered like crazy so i took it to the shop and pulled the top end of the carb off n made sure everything was ok then drained the bowl thinking it had water in it and now it starts up runs great except at very top end it sputters like crazy and i tried with the lights on thinking it might be electrical ... please help and thanks in advance

Hi 05dsrider, awhile back I installed new plugs and had engine sputter under a load
but it idled fine. An engine analyzer showed one of the NEW plugs was bad. I would also check
for dirty jets and airflow. Another tricky problem I had only at fast throttle was a loose mechanicle
choke that was closing at high speeds causing engine sputter/stall. Hope this helps!

Could also be a clogged or pinched gas tank air breather line. - if so, crack the cap a bit to see if it goes away. Also could be a bad battery with low voltage. - check that with a volt meter.

 

im having the same issue and it took forever to narrow it down...i bought a new cdi, voltage regulator, cleaned my carb 4 times and its finally come down to finding the tiniest hole in the diaphram on the carb.....keep looking youll find it.....its the small obvious things that will frustrate you the most........
