Brake lines
#1
Alright, I am putting a new swing arm on my dads bike. Got everything done, just need to put on the new brake line. Anyone able to offer a step by step on bleeding it, and changing and re filling?????

yea well if you are putting a stock swingarm on you won't need to take off the line if you are getting an extended line then I would recommend streamline braided brakelines...there are brackets holding on the lines and take them off then for the brakelines if you take them apart there should be a copper washer on each side on the lines where the bolt goes through and make sure they are tight or fluid will come out...where the slave cyclinder is by the foot brake the line goes in that end with copper washers on both sides also...then once the line is routed back in the braket on the frame behind the shock and bolted up then put fluid in the master cyclinder and close it...then you have to pump the brake pedal for the foot then you must hold it down or put weight on it pushing it the furthest it can go...then on the rear caliper there is a bleeder valve you need a wrench I believe an 8 or 9mm will work and open the valve and fluid will shoot out along with air...then close the valve and continue the process until the brakes start to grab good enough to stop you and there should only be fluid shooting out...make sure you keep putting more fluid in the master cyclinder it is dot 4 brake fluid...any problems let me know.

Just remember if you put a new line on, the Brake Switch Bolt needs to be tighten like a ******!!I replace the washers with Copper to get a better seal, I was worried that the bolt was gonna snap I had to keep tightening it to seal, but when don new lines will make a BIG Diffenence!

yea def a big difference jsut make sure the line isn't going to affect anything in the rear or hit anything just put weight on the rear and make sure it won't be hitting the exhaust or anything else good luck.

I have a leak in my left front caliper... seems to be coming out from the top washer. How can I fix it? If I order new stainless steel lines, do they throw in new copper washers? Also, I can't get the Union bolt out for the life of me... I'm stripping the bolt!! Can anyone help?

I ordered streamline brakelines as I said you will need to order clamps for the lines and they come with all new copper washers and bolts...I really like them but they will take a while to bleed just warning you unless you have the bleeder tool...You could try ordering new washers from bomb are you sure there isn't a tear in the line anywhere and it looks like its coming out of the caliper...If you can't get the bolt off and are stripping it out forst try some wd40 and let it sit on there for a while then if the bolt is too rounded off to use that socket which I believe is a 13mm then try one size smaller or sears sells wrenches for stripped bolts and you can try a pair of vice grips
