well on the ds650 you need to first take the bolt and loosen it (the one on the axle nut) and then loosen up the axle nut which has threads inside of it and the brake hub also has threds on it and when you loosen that up you should see a ring pushed inside a washer which presses up against the axle to keep the rear tight and use a screwdriver or something to pry the rin out and then everything should slide right off the end and just pull the axle out the other end if you are disassembling the whole rear...Make sure when you got to put it back together that the ring is back into the washer there is a groove where it fits and it goes inside that groove or else you will be eating up some bearings...What I usually do is tighten the axle nut which is on the brak hub and start to get some pressure on the ring and washer and then keep pushing it in and tightening the nut even more then when I am doen I snug it up with a large pipe wrench.

well i dont no if the old model ds is that differnt from the 04 and up models but all you gotta do on the 04 models is loosen the axle nut and pull the break hub off the splines...after taking the break off the disk of course...its a 5 min job.

If your removing the axle completely.Remember to loosen your wheel hub nut before
removing anything. You will need your breaks and you chain on to get it off.Its torqed
to 170 ft lbs.Unless you have a impact.

they all have threads mine is an 01 but just loosen up the hub and it should come off it may or may not have the washer and the ring which I explained and if it doesn't then it should just come right off just loosen it up first

Actually no...they do not all have threads and im having a hardtime believing your break hub is threaded onto your axle either...are you meaning the nut before the hub that is threaded on to tighten/loosen the bearing tension on the axle? because i no both my hubs fit on splines and are secured by either a snap ring such as the sprocket hub or a threaded nut for the break hub. Im not trying to start anything....but i did recieve a durablue axle for the earlier models like yours and there are no threads on the axle just splines on both sides for both hubs? am i missing something?

Well dune I already explained what I meant to you about the hub and nut having threads on one another and turn into one another like a bolt and nut do...but as for the brake hub that should just pull right off once everything is loosened up.
