I have heard that air shifters don't shift well on sand or other loose surfaces. My understanding is you need an auto tranny with the air shifter to run on our kinds of tracks. The air shifter will work very consistently on asphalt though.
Anyone else heard this?

No never heard loose surface problems with airshifters before. You just need to interupt the ignition momentarily to take tension off of the gears while it shifts. Then you can ride both ways dune and drag.

When you guys are talking about an auto tranny are you talking about cutting your shift drum so you don't have to clutch it? Or are you talking about a sheeve set up. I am asuming you are talking about the shift drum? If you are they are great for drags but the only problem is you can't down shift until you come to a complete stop so your bike is not good for anything but drags.

i bought an electric auto shift for my ds (never used it new in the box) it will cut the ignition for a millisecond and at the same time activate the selonoid at the shifter and up shift in an instant with out letting off the gas. i liked it becuase you don't have to refill anything and is completly adjustable for rpm shifts with just a click on the control panel. i bought it when i was planning on going black top racing but never did. guess i should sell it?
