This afternoon my buddie and I went riding on our DS's. His is a 2000 and mine is a 2001. We were riding and messing around. Our machines seemed about even. We seen 3 guys riding around, 1 Raptor, 1 400ex , and onther DS. We all talked about our machines. All of the machines were stock accept for my buddies DS had HOleshots and the other guys DS, he had a BIG Gun Exhaust and Holeshots. First off we had a Race betweent eh 3 DS, three differ. times. The BIg gun won everytime. My friend then raced the stock Raptor. From what all the other Ds owners say I figured the DS would win. No way the Raptor beat him every time. I then raced him, same result. The Raptor owner was the heavier of all of us. We wanted to see the piped Ds race the Raptor, at first they didnt want to but the decided to put on a show for us, three races. First race the DS jumped off the line and won by about 2 bike lengths, 2nd time they both got a bad start and the Raptor left him behind in the end. The third time the DS jumped ahead and won by about a bike or two, winning 2 out of three.
Man, I thought the Ds was a pretty fast machine and thought it was the fastest, was I wrong. The stock Raptor beat both of us and beat a Piped DS one time and stayed with him the other two times. What a bike

I ride with a buddie of mine that has a Raptor I beat him 50% of the time. I always get him out of the hole, but it all about rider ability with these two bike and others of that fact. The first thing that needs to be done with the DS is start off in second gear. Feather the clutch, these does two things for me. First I know I won't miss shifting into second and 2nd is the 1 gear in the stock ds is to close for drags. It's ok for trail riding but to close for the track. I need to get a after market sprocket for mine. Tear'em up, all of'em.

Thats funny, because I watched a DS that was stock, out pull a stock Raptor, not just some of the races, but every race. They even put another rider on the Raptor, and it was the same results.I guess there are alot of varables in racing these two machines.

Is the riding in London worth the drive? It's a little bit of a haul for me as well. What type of terrain is it?

Thanks!

You have to look at this from differnt angles here. The Ds NEEDS to be shifted at the PERFECT time to have full potential, and the 2nd gear start is a MUST. 1st just spins a hole in the ground. What kind of terrain did you race on? If it was Dirt or soft ground, then you cant say the ds was "slower" because it all comes down to traction. The stock ds w/ holeshots i bet beat the stock ds without hole shots. Its all traction unless you are on pavement or blacktop.

Yes,and I think the Raptor has more grab, with their stock tires then the DS stock tires.
