Default Drag Racing and Staging

rcoop- if a track is setup right, you can't stage deep enough to turn off the pre-stage light without redlighting.

How is this ? How is the setup changed ?

Default Drag Racing and Staging

Well i was hoping for an informative talk to clear up some misinformation that has been posted on these forums, but it seams team agendas got in the way. So I'll just put it out there for anyone interested.

1. The prestage beam is only for location for the rider to stage. It is not for timing. It is to be 6-8 innches from the staging beam. The guard beam is 16 inches out from the stage beam. No front tire I have seen used in 300 ft drag racing would trip the guard beam before coming out of the staging beam. There have been automotive events that ban you from deep staging. This is a rule not a change from the standard track setup.

2. It has been said if someone runs a guard beam track then a non-guard beam track that 2-3 tenths would be picked up. For an example I'll use a 4.0 bike with a 84 inch wheelbase that 60 ft in the 1.45 range. With the acceleration rates of that bike it would have to keep the stage beam broke the length of the bike, 84 inch wheelie bar, and 8 feet of roost. While maybe possible it would show in a horrible reaction time of .700 or greater. This is only if the bike was set up to be this low to keep the beam broken. A normal bike breaking the beam with tires only is still just running 300 ft and the guard beams would not come into play and his times would varying only by track conditions.

3. Now this same mythical bike set up the same way on a guard beam track would run 3.96 because it would still be tricking the stage beam and would gain a 16 inch running head start at starting the timer. This would be harder to catch as the reaction time could go from a regular .460 to .492. So the bike is no faster it just posts a faster timeslip.

4. Use example in 3, but bike wheelies over guard beam and trips the beam with the middle of the chassis. The rider is good so he cuts a .420 light this time. Without the tricks the timeslip shows .420 reaction time 4.00 ET. With the tricks .540 reaction time 3.88 ET.

Just trying to help people understand it doesnt matter what kind of track if people want to try to cheat it is possible. This example is totally fabricated by me to have easy numbers to work with it by no means calls out anyones times in this forum. I have only seen one group in atv racing cheat so far and they were called on it on the track that day.
