.040" is quite a bit to take off of a head, with that kind of # one sure can not expect to run any normal head and base gasket kit for sure and come out with proper clearance, you may end up running a .030 or .040 spacer in-between two .012- .015" base gaskets to gain what you need for clearance, I would not run a .060 base if even available, asking for trouble IMO.
With a spacer on bottom, you can maybe end up with a .063 or little more on top and make it work. Be sure and O-ring the cyl. as well (just $30.00 to 0-ring) and use a copper gasket, the point where you are at, MLS gaskets will not help you.
Copper Gaskets Unlimited, or Cometic should be able to make whatever you need.

Crazy, what size valves do you have in the head now ?
What piston do you have for the set-up?

Called JE pistons today at lunch to see how big of cams their piston is designed to clear, he said a little more than what will clear a stock piston. He asked what size valves and I said 40/34's he didn't know of anyone runing that big of ones and their piston relief was only for a one or maybe two mm bigger valve. This could be the problem doing more checking and measuring tonight to see whats what.

A little update- tired of messing with all this crap and nothing being done when promised and maybe the quality compromised a little, so I just put her together as-is and fired it up!! I'm just going to run her till she blows. With the drag pipe on you can't even hear the valves hitting especially at high RPM's.

Im clueless about the technical motor stuff.Rather than ride it till it blows, couldnt you get a different piston.

Doesnt someone make one that would get you the clearence you need.

Please remember i dont have a clue.So dont be to hard on me.

I also know you want to ride but couldnt you send your head to someone to fix it corectly.

It just seems like it would cost more in the long run if you rode it with the valves smacking the piston.
