Default Stock Carb Mods - Summary

<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>Originally posted by: OMR

I had to send my prototype emulsion tube out for quoting. So today my son and I installed a stock emulsion tube and we could not get the motor to run well with the lid off. I thought with the #40 air jet that the carb would work with lid off. I was wrong. We are at 800 ft elevation and depending on type of exhaust, lid off is limited, unless we have the modded emulsion tube installed.

With lid on, #40 air jet, DJ needle in 2nd groove and 180 DJ main, the motor ran best. The #40 air jet really helped bottom to mid and that is why needle worked best in the second groove. In 3rd it was too rich in mid range.

Sorry for the confusion, but most of my time has been with the modded emulsion tube, and now it appears to be even a bigger part of how to run with the lid off.

So if my quad has a slip-on exhaust and wants to run with the lid off, is a modified emulsion tube needed or is stock ok?

Default hose mod help

Hi all,

I have had my DS650X 2006 for a year now, I have put a Ron woods exhaust system on and a k&n, I am running with the lid on as the conditions here in the uk are always wet and I could not run any other way. My question is I am looking to do the stock carb mods now can anyone tell what you call sump pump hose is, and the size you are using,

A picture would be best so I can show my local plumbing supplier.

Many Thanks all

I am used to the small drill bits in a hard substance, when working with racing engines in cars there are alot of oiling issues and you have to change the flow and direction of oil in some cases to extend the life of certain parts.
