I just got threw doing my first oil change, and noticed that the oil filter was shorter then the one that was in it.I went back, and they told me that was the filter for the DS.Is this right?

Did you the new oil filter come from the Bombardier dealer? Mine from the dealer, have always matched the factory filter.
If the part # is P711256186 you will be OK.

Yes,that is the same # that I have, but the strange thing is that the owners manual shows a picture of the oil lid and its flush(thin)with the moter, while my lid is more of a cup shape. My DS is a 2001.I am worried that they may have changed some thing, amd my dealer may not be aware of it.

I thought you had 2000 model, this # may not be for a 2001..not sure .You might need to call Bombardier or ask another dealer to recheck that #. Let us know if there is two different #s, oil filters for 2000, 2001models.

Yes,DS650DAVE the 2001 DS has a bigger filter.I thaught I was going crazy, but have gotten the new one ordered today. On the 2000 model, the last two digets are 86,while the new one on the 2001 is 88.Its about a inch and a half longer then the the 2000 model.
