Outside the box

About a week back Hightower posted this link to a BIG cool quad racing video vid.
Watching these guys race made me realize how heavy and ungainly quads were compared to dirtbikes. Watch dirtbikes race on a track and then quads and you'll see what I mean.
Something I've thought of repeatedly is making a quad out of a dirtbike, which should come out under 300lbs. This light weight pursuit made me wonder about ditching the rear axle and dual wheels of a quad and building a reverse threewheeler from a dirtbike using atv a-arms, parts and wheels. It might not be the fastet thing at launch, but I'm thinking a CR500 front trike could come in around 280lbs and be a real wild ride.
I know I've seen motorcycle-car combos like this, one was called the lean machine, so I did alittle digging and found this3-wheeler

Back in the day Dirt wheels mag guys built a reverse three wheeler out of a 250 R and it did not handle well
They just re ran the article a few months back.

Can you imagine going into a corner too hot on that streetbike? I would guess the rear would slip first causing you to spin and whipping to the opposite lean angle
It would still be fun to try something like that in the sand though, I'll look that article up in DW. Thanks Tpsycho.
