yes I've been following too, rumor mills a plenty, here there and everywhere.
speculation is fun, some of it makes you smile and laugh, and some of it makes you think and hope.
there is a ds450, and it will be out, but its details of when and what it will have for a powerplant are the sketchy parts. But it will undoubtedly have a Rotax engine, cause Bomb owns Rotax, they are a premier motor supplier, and it would be silly otherwise. And the HP numbers we read are mostly based on either crank shaft numbers or bike numbers, so keep in mind that the same motor in the quad will show quite a bit less at the rear wheels on a dyno. I will be shocked if it breaks 50hp in stock form.
But what will make this new bike a winner or a loser is its chassis and suspension. No amount of HP in the world can make up for handling issues on a track or trail in race applications. The DS is used by oh so few people in MX and GNCC/XC for this very reason, its the perfect desert quad and shines there, but cannot handle in the tight stuff like the smaller 450's no matter what you do to it in mods and that is a fact.
one thing is for sure though, this will not be the quad for me. I would expect it to be the same size as all the rest of the 450's, leaving the DS to remain the only big quad out there for 6'-8" guys like me. But I am still looking forward to its release!!

Made a stop into the local Bomb Dealer yesterday.
The Renegade should be showing up for them on Tuesday. . . Man, wasn't this thing released about 6 months ago??!!
Sounds like the Dirtbike may be next.
No news on any changes for the DS. Like Hightower says, no matter what, the DS will always have a market. I'ld hate to see Bomb stop making them just because.
Interestingly enough. . . the Bomb Dealer is also an Aprilla dealer. First time I had seen that twin 450 engine (they also had a twin 550). The way I understand it is these are Rotax engines.
I'm excited about the possibility of actuallly being able to buy a stock bike, put a pipe and air-filter on it and re-program the EFI and have enough power to go out and ride. So far, I've been really impressed with the new Raptor 700's for this.
BRP. . . get your act together. . . no excuses for this lack of action. Bore the 650 from a 100 to a 102 and put FI on at a minimum. Drop the 550 twin in it if you really want to increase sales. A simple single 450 is a tough market to compete in. That twin 450 would separate BRP from the rest of the market. We'll see. I'm really losing conficence in them right now.

I have purposly held of getting somthing new till this year. This will be the year of choice. You will have 5 450's to pick from, you already have the Preddy if you want a tweener, and the Outlaw 525, Rappy and DS650 for the big displacement arena. Not to mention, and I think a good tactical move on KTM's part, to release their 525 before the 450, since they would have to compete with the 2 new ones and likely a substancial overhaul of the YFZ.
2007 is a good year to be a sporty buyer!!!

this year is definately going to be a good year for the 450's but I really want to put most of my attention to see what ktm and can am have to offer...I think these 2 companies are smart by sitting it out and seeing what everyone else has succeeded and failed on and they will both have a unique quad with lots of upgrades and power.
