so some damn kid was bidding and daddy caught him with 20 minutes to go and called Curtis and asked if Curtis would cancell all the bids his kid had entered? the bids were cancelled with 15 munutes left on the clock as we all saw. thats just wrong. it has been my experience that when the end of the auction nears all interested parties are sitting right by their computers and watching right till the end even if the bike has already gone past the amount they are willing to hand out. there have been only 2 or 3 people per auction willing to hand out the big dollars for any one of my bikes and they generally fight it out in the last few minutes after all othere bidders have long since dropped out. it is possible though that all other bidders had topped out at $9700 and this was where the bidding would have stopped naturally. the only 2 bidders left after the 9700 mark had been reached were the kid that was bidding for fun and the actual heavy hitter bidder who really wanted the bike and his max was only exposed because some a hole let his kid have access to his ebay password and the child was trying to buy the bike with monopoly money. it was a nice bike and everyone knows how well it ran and how reliable it was but the fact remains that after the kids bids were retracted there was still around 15 minutes left to the auction and everyone in the country had a chance to grab the bike. how many of you who were watching the auction close signed off or quit watching when the bike went higher than you wanted to pay? you kept watching out of curiosity because you have been looking at it all week and wanted to see how high it went. my point is , it was a high profile item, everyone was watching, anyone can say,"I would have payed more for it than that" but no one did even though they were watching with 15 miutes left to bid. I feel that perhaps because it was listed in the middle of winter and perhaps because the bike was located in a remote part of the country that it may have just reached its natural price limit. this bike was a sand toy and most of this countries sand riding is done in california where the sky is the limit it seems on what people are willing to spend on their toys. I feel if it had been located in central california and had been listed in spring when it was riding weather outside it would have brought more money . I also feel curtis did what he wanted to do . he built this bike , rode it for several years an had a blast with it and sold it for more than he had in it an made enough to completely finance his next project. thats all any of us can really hope to do in this sport. build a machine , have fun with it and not loose a dime on it and most people who build bikes like this end up loosing money. congrats curtis , your first conversion was a beautiful reliable bike that was the envy of all . you are an honest man and deserve the best . Im sure your next machine will make you forget all about this last one and will bring you even more pleasure. Gregg
