Default DS650X handle bars

Hi, I'm new to this fourm and wanted to introduce myself before I ask my handle bar Q. We ride bikes and quads in Arizona. We only rode Honda machines until a few weeks ago when I got the DS650, I've been wanting one for about 2 years. I'm 6'3" and I just didnt fit on a 400EX right.

OK, now for the question about aftermarket bars for my DS650. Because I'm so tall, and because I ride bikes too, I like to stand a lot when I ride and It seems like I cant get into a comfortable standing position on the DS650. Does anyone else have this issue? I was wandering if risers on the steering stem would help, or maybe a taller set of bars?

Thanks gang,

Aaron

Risers and a higher bend would help significantly.

BTW, welcome to the best ATV Forums in the world!!! Haha

Im 6 foot 4 and have found using the alba bar riser (www.albaaction.com) and TAG Metals Raptor bend works perfect for everything.

I'm 6'5" and the best thing I did was the +2 Epic steering stem, with CR high bend fat bars. Very nice! Welcome to the forums... you will love the DS at your height.

Thnaks FatHolly, I wasnt sure what bar to go with for the DS650. I use Renthal CR High's for my bikes, maybe I should stick to them for the quad too. Where did you get the +2 Epic steering stem?

Thanks Again,

Aaron

Alba, but they don't carry Epic anymore... they now have the Roll Design stems though, so either way you would be good.

Default DS650X handle bars

An article appeared in the Oct. 2006 issue of Dirt Wheels entitled "Project DS 650". They performed a number of modifications (which you could read on your own) as well as a handlebar swap. "One more item that we installed before testing our upgraded DS was a set of 2014 T6 aluminum 7/8 inch handlebars replacing the stockers that bent in a rollover. The $60 bars were supplied by a lesser known company by the name of Zeta High Performance Products, and distributed through Langston Racing here in California. The black ribbed bars were designed for mini motorcyles but the bend and sweep was perfect for this machine. Also, the bars were about a half an inch shorter on each side making it easier to saw the bars back and forth. The new bars, eqipped with Spider hand grips, worked great for carving the turns and backing the DS into every corner."

Anyway, that's what they had to say about it and I'm thinking hard about ordering them since mine are also slightly bent from a rollover at Sand Mt. Just ask Vic. Ha Ha
