We (dad and I) have a stainless steel cap that will fit the ds...its about 2 1/2 inch opening at the end of the tip itself. Actully its a Stainless steel water holder thing, but fits perfect on the end of the ds exaust. My question is does anyone here think that this tip Will increase power or horsepower of the ds? It would be just like buying the pingry tip, but we are building it ourselves. I would also like to know how a K&N air filter helps the ds powerwise. We will be getting a set of xct holeshot tires on t9 wheels soon, because my stockers have been dented to the extreme. So how do you think a 2 1/2 inch exaust tip will work on the ds? assuming that we will get the jetting correct.

I have the pingry tip. It made a world of a difference! I don't have a jet kit yet and it starts fine. I just got back from Niagra, WI. It was pretty cold last night and it started easy this morning. About your shootout post, I'll come up for that.

dskurt,
Sweet, hopefully our cap works like the pingry..but i'v heard that pingry does not such a great job on the "FIt and finish" of the cap. Well anyway..back to the post. I'd love to have our own little shootout. I'm not sure when the trails open, but I think it would be awesome to see 2 ds's racing down the trails..i'v only seen 1 ds other then mine all year. It had an aftermarket tip and some coustum skid plates i belive. Maybe a pair of bars to. I saw it at the ATV RALLY in milston...where we had drag races..and a bunch of other stuff. It sounded awesome. I ride with a DUNCAN racing banshee (national engin, swingarm, shocks, frame...everything). A few 400ex's and 2 other banshees with only pipes and a few other little things. I'd be greatfull to ride w/ another ds to test how good i am..i'v never been able to compare to another ds before. Email me at " ryanolson32@hotmail.com " if you want to talk more about this at a later date. What do you all have done to your ds anyway? By the time we get to the trails i'll have holeshots and hopefullly an exaust tip.

If you are not equipt to cut stainless (extremely hard) May I suggest you take the stock tip to a local muffler shop where they can cut the spark arrestor out with a torch and weld a piece of 2"-2 1/2" exhaust pipe stock over the cut out. I would guess some one would do it for $20 and it would have the same effect as a pingry. Bottom line is you need to be able to move more air thru the engine to make more power. You will need to
add a K&N air filter and a jet Kit. If you don't ride in extremely dust contitions go for the K&N that bolts directly to the carb. It breathes better than any other arangement and you'll be able to increase your jet size proportionally. This all translates to more power!!Least expensive route.
