Jetting
#1
I just added the gradon pipe to my DS, does anyone have this pipe? Any recommendations on jetting (main and needle)I'm waiting on jets from my local shop? I'm running the stock carb, UNI filter air bob lid removed and my ridding local is the Phoenix area and Glamis.

I don't know but I waiting on my pipe and K&N Power Kit. I've only owned 2 stokers and this bike is confusing me. Acts like it's running lean after riding it for a few mins to an hour. But on startup it hard to start(when cold), it needs full choke for 2-3 and half for another 2-3mins or it'll die. It's all stock right now, and I know a 2 stoke comes from the dealer rich on the main but what about a 4 stroker? I have only about 7 - 10 hr on it and I already replaced one set of plugs. I guess I need to read up on 4 stroke engines.

sandsurfer, You might want to just buy the dynojet kit. The kit comes with a new needle that is richer as well as a bunch of main jets. The stock needle is lean on the bottom end. After adding a pipe and filter and removing the airbox lid, the stock needle will be way too lean for maximum power.

Yes you can, but my DS came stock with the needle in the second highest position. One more position may not be enough. I've never tried using spacers to raise the needle further.
Check out bombardierds650.com/reviews/customx.htm for some air/fuel ratio data before and after a pipe was installed.

Scooby, my DS came stock with a 165 Main and the needle on the 2nd richest slot (forth notch from the top down). I got my hands on a 180 main today and I droped the clip down to the last notch. I will give it a run as soon as possible. I will be ordering a DynoJet kit this week if theneedle is as good as everyone claims. Trying to get ready for another dune trip to glamis soon.
