Someone mentioned Dunes; A hill run is one thing but real duning is another... Can that bike truley do a decent dune run without making you work to death ? I heard it's 700+ #s ? I read a Automatic shootout in last months ATV Sport Magazine (Polaris 500, Yam 450, KFX700 and the Renegade). The concensus was not defined other than the KFX and Ren had way more power than the others, with the Ren still having a significant 0-40 time over the KFX. ? Is the Ren a possible serious drag bike down the road/or sand once some weight is dropped ? Or will it be the next big mud slinger?

I still havent read the article yet... didnt the yam450 win?
I firmly believe that the Renegade can be both dragster and mud slinger. It is alreadly 42pounds lighter than its big bother the outtie. The problem is that since its a new model, it will take a while for aftermaket light parts and performance parts to be release.
I just order 26" Mudlite XTR's today, so im goin the mudslinger way. I couldve got any size of tire since i have plenty of HP to turn the tires, but i wanted to keep it a little sporty still. But i know a problem just with the stock ATR's is fender protection. You get some kind of dirty ridin in the mud. But its all in good fun
Anyone have any dyno charts of their improvements?

Hey kawiyowee,
Tha bikes way it at just shy of 600lbs. I know first off its a mud slinger from hell, drag racin Im not so sure I mean it is a really fast bike but I rode with some 450R's this wknd and I wasnt a whole lot faster.

Stevo, tell me that was just being funny; I assure you they were'nt talking about the YFX450. It's that other so-called Auto Tamaha sport/ute 450..I've never seen one in the dunes.. I guess that's why in the shoot out they stopped recording their numbers after 30 feet...... You just have to check out that article in ATV Sport to understand.....You all be good

Why would anyone expect an 800cc 600+ lb sport 4wd to be as fast as a quad purposely built for racing that's more than 200lbs lighter? The only quads you should even consider comparing a Renegade to is a Scrambler 500, maybe a 450 Wolverine, an 800 Sportsman, 750 Brute or 700 Grizzly. None of those are really a fair comparison either, but there far closer for comparison purposes than a 400cc, 400lb or less 2wd sport/race quad! If you want to compare anything to a 400lb sport machine, compare another 400lb sport machine to it.

My banshee will outdrag all the semi stockers. To compare a combo quad to a sport quad is silly, but in a drag its closer than you think.I raced my renegade against 2 banshee's at boxcar, at the top 1 was pulling me, the other was about even. i hear they are about the same as a raptor. If you live in my area i would love to give you a comparsion against your quad in about 3 weeks. The renegade and the outlander don't seem like they are related, its that much improved.

outty 800 is about the same as rap 660 piped and filter and light flywheel and such in loose dirt. outty falls a bit behind on the pavement. ok allot but still.. I can't believe the renegade aint a bunch quicker than outty with its lighter tires/wheels and lighter /less wind resistant plastic and all. Gotta be pretty good pull on it.

If you were to actually race a Renegade, you wouldn't race it with 450R's or YFZ450's. Puttting it against other big bore 4x4's I can see. I personally would like to see how well a Renegade does against a 750 Brute with similar wheels and tires. Considering they're both big V twin 4X4's. With a better set of wheels and tires on a Brute it should make for an interesting shootout. Maxxedouty where about's do you live? I used to have a 660 Raptor and my Renegade feels about as powerful, even though it is technically, it's also 200lbs heavier and uses a CVT vs a five speed manual clutch. The weight and the CVT mask the fact that you're riding a 62 hp machine.
