i have a 2000 ds650 that im thinking of selling and upgrading to a 2007 ds650x but is it really worth the 5999.00 plus all of the extra fees im going to end up paying or should i just stay with my 00.

recently ive been having problems trying to get the pig running but all is good now but im still getting spanked by the yfz and 450r's.

 

a new one won't really make you go any faster. if yours runs good and you are going to stick with a DS then why fork out the $$ for a newer one that is just about the same as what you have?

 

you make for a simple question u need to answer... Spend ur money on a new stock DS650 Baja X or spend some money on mods/accessories and spank the competition!! ?

 

the reason i asked was beacuse i heard that the 00-01 model had electrical and transmission prolems and i dont want to be stuck with a shift fork or water seal bill later on.

 

I own a 01, only problem was a ground problem, get play quads

 

My 01 has only had a fan problem. (i think that was due to muskeg pileing up)

The new model has shorter swingarm, more lights, reinforce rims, etc. Nothin major that will make you go faster

 

Steveo10 what do you mean by "more lights"

 

I think he means that the Baja model has the Baja lights. The only reason the 04 and up models are a bit faster is because of the weight reduction and better traction they get from the swingarm. With the x model you do get the tach, shocks, rims, nerfs, and thats about it. The stock rims on the baja models suck, the tach is cool but not needed, the swingarm is a nice bit better, but the nerfs suck, the shocks are AMAZING. There isnt really that much more you are going to get out of a new one except the comfort and enjoyment of a nice shiny new quad. Mod your ds....get some good shocks, a carb, intake, piston, cams, and a swingarm, hell even some a arms and an axle and you would have a killer ds that costs less than a new one.

 

My DS only came with the 1 main headlight... soon after there was the Baja and then eventally came just the Baja version

 

where are you getting an 07 for 5999? I paid 7200 for mine and I work at the dealership. I didnt have to pay the prep fees because I did it all myself off the clock but that sounds like a deal
