Default rev limiter

yesterday i went to sand mountain utah and had a problem with my ds. it would only rev to 7000 rpms with a aftermarket white brothers cdi. i dont know if there is a problem with the cdi. should i get rid of it and buy a ron woods cdi? also i took it to a local shop a week ago and they took of the top part of the stock carb and i noticed i was not sealed right plus i noticed also there at a scematic of my carb online and its missing the o ring it looks like right under the diaphragm. do i need it? maybe the shop has no idea what there doing

thanks tim

There could be a number of reasons why the bike isnt revving any higher than 7000rpm's.

If you still have the stock CDI, I would throw it on the bike and see what happens.

Yes, you need the rubber o-ring on the top of the stock carb.

Is your air filter clean?

Are you running the airbox?

Spark plugs firing?

What is the rated rpm for the white brothers?

I think you need to replace the o-ring before you go out and buy another cdi. JMO.

If Im not mistaken, I thought the stock cdi box was good for 7500rpms.

Im sure the White Brother's box would be atleast that.

I think you might have a carb problem.

Is the bike taking the throttle well from idle to the rev limiter?

Hmm, I suppose the shops checked the valves?

Did they do a compression check on this bike as well?
