Due a compression test and check for an air leak around the intake. If you get is started just spray some carb cleaner at the carb if stay running you are ok there.

From your description, I would double check the fuel supply, either valve, filter, lines, it sounds like something is restricting the gas flow to the carb bowl.
Just a little thought from the village idiot.

From what i am hearing, take off the seat and see if it will start. There are lines that go around your tank and they may be pinched. I had this on mine and it would run fine then go out in the field and die. start up with choke, and then die. Dealer came and fixed it because the tank was installed pinching the line. Hope this helps before you go spending much money. By the way how much did you pay for yours?? used.

10% leakdown is fine sure sounds like a fuel problem to me.Try removing the gas cap and see if that helps also could be a charging problem. The battery must be fully charged or there wont be enough voltage to the electronics causing it to run poorly then finally stalling.

sounds like the same thing that happened to my banshee.the problem was the vent in the gas cap was stoped up.if you take the cap off it would run.but put the cap back on it would run awhile the act like it was running uot of gas then die.take gas cap off and it would repeat the process.take an air hose and blow out the vents in the cap.it could be dust build up.

Excellent advice i'll do that before the head comes off.Actually this is my brother's were talking about. He paid $4900.00 on ebay $200.00 to deliver.I bought mine used locally for $5500.00 w/the ron woods exhaust and rev.Nice helmet included.Ironically my chain broke (i know a big 530) within 10 mins of riding it.But i was only a 1000 ft away.My brother was 2 miles.lol.

Chain snapped? what the heck is that all about. our ds started starting very very hard when the temp got below about 40 degrees. We took the head off and found that the valve's were to tight. But once we got it started , it would run perfect. When i took off my front plastic on my ds, i pinched the gastank/breather tub under the gas tank itself. Once i put it back togeather, it would start to die after about 4th gear. I pulled the line completly off and drilled 2 very small holes in the gas cap of the ds. It helped alot. either that or trim your tub so it wont get pinched as easily. I'm still wondering how your chain broke!
