DS 650 carb adjustment ???
My DS just failed the AZ emission test(idle test, CO was to high). How do I lean out the idle fuel mixture out. Where is the screw located, if that's what it takes. I did the test twice, the second time the CO level was a hair lower(but still to high) because I removed my dirty outer foam sleave(Unifilter), the inner sleave was clean and oiled. I'm also going to change out the plugs, which didn't look all that bad but were a dark brown color and had a good gap. Any help or adjustment info would be great. Rich

DS 650 carb adjustment ???
In AZ, quads have to be licensed (street legal) in order to operate on forest roads or any other road maintained by the state.
Mine failed the first time as well (CO was too high). The cause was that the RPM's were too low.
After increasing the idle, it passed with no problem.
Increase your idle and you should pass.

Duffster,
Are you trying to make the quad street legal? If so, then you need the emissions test along with all the other safety requirements. If not all you need is the RV plate from MVD and you are good for unincorporated areas in AZ. You do not have to be street legal to ride fire roads.
I found the following statement on the MVD web site:
All-terrain and off-road recreational vehicles that operate only on dirt roads located in unincorporated areas of Arizona must be titled and have a plate, but are exempt from registration and insurance requirements.

Are you guys in Az able to ride them on the streets w/o being caught or pulled over?...As for the problem I would try messing around with your idle and adjuster screw and see if that helps any because it sounds like your jetting is fine other then a little tweaking...The newer ds's have tach's so you can tell what you are running rpm wise...If worse comes to worse and you have the stock components throw em on and give it a try and then if you pass put the aftermarket parts back on.
