Im going to be rebuilding my DS soon, it just started to smoke a very little and noticed oil blowing out of the crank case breather. Im going with a 11.5:1 JE Piston(stock size). Would I be ok running a TM 45 carb, ported intake and ODP Endcap. I would like to run the stock cams, if thats possible? I will also get an aftermarket CDI Box? Any ideas on what box would be good to run with this setup?

Any info would be appreciated

I am very happy with the RWR set up. I would guess my total cost of the build was $2000. I am now looking at regearing as I am revving out in 5th and before I could only pull 6800 RPM.!

you might want to keep the air intake tube with the 45 it will help with the low end hesitation.

RWR is a reprogrammed Rotax CDI . I am not sure who makes the Vortec.

I think im going to try tha Vortec, the RWR stage2 sounds great, just dont want to put that much into my atv, im just going with the 11.5:1 JE Piston, ported intake, ported head TM45 carb, and ODP endcap. Im saving this for a winter project, im so busy this summer, i also want to take my time and do everything right! It shall be fun

Dyno runs have proven that a direct mount filter on the TM carbs is better than the air tube.

The Ron Wood CDI is cheaper than the Vortec. Vortec makes the Vortec and I think you can get them from Alba and Eric Oldham.

On my mild build I think the direct mount pulls higher peak, but the air tube makes better overall power.

I have run both ways with my TM45 and feel that it pulls the steep dunes better with the tube.

This is just seat of the pants, so if there are some dyno proving otherwise it would be cool to know for sure.

I agree with Marky. . . the RW Stage II is a great kit for the DS.

Throw away the intake tube! I think (no dyno proof on this) that at higher altitudes (like you ride) the direct mount has more of an advantage. Again, nothing scientific on this.

Watch out with those cams!!! Change your valve springs at least every other year. You are asking for a HUGE bill if you don't!

Cams are great but, the crappy thing about them is the regular maint. required with cam spring changes.

Cammer,
Are you going to be at Sand Mtn Labor Day weekend? I would like to see how your RWR Stage II compares to my HPR Stage II. We have very similar builds so it would be interesting to see.

Vortex, not vortec everyone....
