DS650 removed from CAN AM websight

It's what someone has to do when a manufacture refuses to update a bike then drops it all together due to lack of public intrest.I have had several people that have seen my ds's go and buy one based on what they can be. The ds to the average joe looks fat and frumpy .Once they see one of mine (forget all the mods just the looks) After we cut and trim them they are thin looking monsters that tower over all the other bikes at the dunes.but the factory refused to do anything to the fat little pigs.So i guess BRP feels they just don't need there loyal customers anymore.

I love my DS and will be riding it until I'm way into retirement. The reason is simple - its the only quad in existance that I fit on ergonomically due to me being 6'-8" tall. Its still a fat pig with a wet weight of 470 pounds wearing big 22" knobbies but that's just fine and dandy, it hasn't stopped me before and it aint gonna now.
I am sad that Bomb is discontinuing it, but that doesn't change anything I've thought or think about the one I have. Since I already have one, and it is reliable enough to last as long as I want it to, then I do not need another one, therefore it really doesn't matter if it is still made or not.
And before anybody says for me to look at a new raptor, let me just say that I have already ridden one, and no it does not fit. my knees hit the dam fenders for heavens sake! Same as all quads other than the DS.
Unless Bomb comes out with something just like the DS to replace the DS, my DS is the first and last Bomb I'll be owning.

With the run that the DS has had in the desert races, I hope BRP will replace it with something in the same mold.
I'm in the same boat as Hightower and alot of you guys. I'm 6'7" 240lbs. and the DS in the ONLY quad that I feel comfortable on. I've ridden a few YFZ450's and TRX450's and even a Kawi700. The DS was by far the best fit. My other pride and joy is a 1986 Honda ATC350x, so riding and maintaining something not in production anymore is not that big of a deal to me.

I'm only 6'-1" and 180 lbs and the Raptor 700 fits me fine. I started transitioning over to it when they first came out because it does sooooo many things better than my DS's.
To compete with, or beat the 700R, Can-Am would have to make the DS650 as revolutionary as their new 450. I wouldn't be surprised if that was in the works. 700R owns the big block sport quad market but we all know that Can-Am isn't afraid to take on the competition. The 450 market is the most highly competetive of them all.....they weren't afraid of that challenge.
A 425 lb DS800 with a manual version of the Outlander motor would be unbelievable. I would pay $10k for one of those if it worked like it should.

IMO in stock formation the DS650 is very competitive just for its size, not cramped up like all the rest of the pack. Honestly BRP could put alot more power in the bike, the wide stance & oversized shocks, chain, etc could handle the extra power. I can see it now DS650 with 70hp or more. Age restriction of 21yrs old or older!!!!! That's what's holding the industries back it the age limitations, but they could simply make quads for adults. I Love the tank build looks of it. Would like to buy one, but the Sypder Roadster is more of what I'm looking for from BRP.... Mind-blowing machine.
