Cam Chain Tensioner Going Bad
Have you checked the chain slide on the front end of the head/barrel ??????????
Mine broke and was laying in the bottom of the clutch case, from the top (valve train) all seemed OK.
The timing chain slapped the tensioner foot so hard it collapsed the tensioner and left a dimple in the outside of the (tensioner) barrel and it stayed collapsed. When I'd physically collapse it with my fingers I could see the bur where it has hanging up at. I left it collapsed and wet stoned that end till the bur was Almost gone and it popped back open and has not been a problem since.
I still watch it with every HARD pass I make on my motor.
That was my experience with the cam chain tensioner..........
