Default Scary ideas...For Sale?!?! need your opinions!

Well I absolutely love my acquired hpr730 bike but being in school I have only ridden it twice in the last 6+ months
I have this insured for quite a pretty penny which as you could guess isnt the cheapest insurance bill. I am afraid to drop the insurance for fear something will happen to it, but at the same time Its hard to see it sit, depreciate and not get used!

If you guys were in the market...what would you pay for this DS? After thinking of that number...do you think it would be more cost effective to part it out? (and more helpful to my fellow DS riders???) I see stock DS motors are still selling for around 1k on ebay- but an entire lightly modded good condition DS only nets like 2.5-3k!

Here is the list (I didnt put prices on all of it as I didnt dish out the dough for all of it, and dont feel like looking up exact prices- but you know what most of it costs...)

*note im sure I have forgotten some of the smaller things but this is the jist of it*

DS730 - (9k in receipts for the motor alone) - all mods built around each other- current output is 70hp with I believe 62 ft/lbs (looking for the dyno)
HPR 730 w/ FSR 11:1 piston (another 4-5 hp gained by bumping compression, but its built to run on pump gas)
Big valve head with 40/34 valves
Hr3 Hr5 Intake/Exhaust cams with shim-under buckets
Back Cut transmission gears
FULL race porting
Eric's personal ported intake! (over 25 hours porting on it!!)
Lectron 48 dual PJ with moose black billet throttle
No Toil foam filter with K&N pre-filter (updated intake tube)
SS Top Gun exhaust (header to slip on painted high temp matte black)
Barnett 9 disc clutch
Custom programmed Vortex CDI
Adjustable Elka Dune Edition shocks Front/Rear
Chromoly +1 steering stem
Tag T2 bars and billet bar clamp
530 aluminum sprocket(s)
Tusk nerf bars
Fully powder coated (silver vein)- frame/ a-arms/ bumper/ nerfs/ swingarm
ASR +1 aluminum swingarm w/ new bearing carrier
Aluminum upper a-arms
PRM Baja grab bar- Baja pegs- powder coated in flat black
Alba Silver Carbon Fiber CT sprocket cover
Alba Carbon Fiber radiator shrouds
Custom mounted Odyssey PC545 battery
Custom Cascade seat cover with gel pad (very nice!)
23x10.5x12 Hauler extremes & 23x8.5x12 Smooth Buffs -
Both mounted on Douglas 12 inch billet wheels
22x11x9 Razr's & 21x8x10 Razr's-
Both mounted on ITP baja reinforced rims

small stuff- Custom mounted Coolant gauge & oil pressure gauge mounted in the dash- new ceramic brake pads F/R- SS braided brake lines with billet a-arm line holders- billet brake resevoir cap (this part cost the most of anything on the bike )

I would HATE to see it go...but I just need to sort out my priorities right now... I still have 1.5 years left of school plus an internship so ill be pretty busy. Who knows I may just end up keeping it and riding when I can

Thanks guys!

Just drop it at my house I will give it some love..
No really I hate to say it but parting it out would be the best for return or you could grt lucky and somrbody could want the package. so try the complete bike sale first then go to part out mode.

Lol, I know if I was still at community college and had the time to ride I would be set, but being 2 hours away from my quad and only home a few weekends it makes it hard to find time to ride.

I second that, I doubt you will lose value at this point, but think what it would be like to replace it after school. Lock it up nice and safe, and it should be covered by your homeowners policy.

Selling it whole is quick and easy.. Parting it out takes time and alot of boxes. I sold my entire DS in pieces on this forum alone. It took about a month but I made more than I ever would have selling it as a whole.

I say keep the bike.. I sold mine and my Camaro to pay the bills while in college.. I now wish I would have found a diffrent way to come up with the money..

Ya the more I think about it, the more I cant imagine not being able to throw my leg over a fire breathing 500 pound raging pig I guess the deal is right now is that EVERYTHING in life costs money, and without a job what little money I have goes out the window in a heartbeat. At this point I think its almost worthless to try and sell as whole, as im sure the most I would get for it is like 4k? If i parted it out im sure I could get a pretty penny. I wouldnt actually mind taking it apart and parting it out, but that would be utterly painful!

I just kept thinking- "OK, ill sell this now, pocket the money and find a used modded raptor 700 or a used ktm 525 or something when im done with school" but I know this machine is rock solid, I know DS' reasonably well, and afterall- everyone KNOWS those new pesky 450's and the like are so damn uncomfortable!

Ok im sold- on keeping it, that is

Thanks guys... All i needed was to see that big pig at the end of the tunnel to change my mind!

good deal man, glad you're keeping it!
but remember, contrary to popular belief, and the way it should be, the only motor vehicles home owner's policies cover are lawn mowers, if the garage burns or get's broke in to, home owner's aint gonna cover the quad.

That'll depend on the homeoweners coverage. My policy covers everything inside my shop. Everything! So guess where everything is?

But make sure to check your coverage.

Thats quite the machine Roost. Glad to hear your keeping it.
