Default First go on the DS450

Was at the dealer this afternoon and asked him, "wheres this 450 at?" He originally said end of August, then September..... and it was ready to ship 3 weeks ago. Well, as we stood there talking a delivery truck showed up and guess what was on it...the DS450! Pretty awesome timing on my part!

First impressions:

-Bigger than I thought
-Sits a bit higher than I thought it would
-You can really see the engineering that went into it
-A better fit for me than the other 450's (minus the LTR, maybe)
-Kind of feels like I am sitting on it rather than part of it
-LIGHT as hell!!
-Rear tires look small (20-11-9)
-Motor looks really small

We uncrated it did a quick PDI, and started breaking her in good! We only got to ride it pretty much around the block and up and down the road. But we all took turns breaking her in. The power felt nice and rolled on nicely. I have rode all the 450's (minus the KTM and Outlaw) and stock this seems the nicest stock, literally out of the box.

We are going to take her to the desert this Friday and see what it can do. I will have a better ride report, with some actual riding, and pics then.

You'll really love it, when pressed the suspension only gets better. The power is fantastic, and when you add the pipe/filter/open air box and program mod, you'll see just what is lurking inside which is on par with other 450's with internal work done....

I liken it to a track shoe....where most quads are akin to cross trainers, this thing is like a full on sprinter's shoe. Fits just right, light as hell and a whole lot easier to go faster with....

5-10....Fat.....LOL 230.

I will have to say that how a quad feels is purely subjective....

Here's how I rate them as I prefer the fit of bigger quads....

400ex Love the Egros.....
450r Feels similar to 400ex.
Raptor 700, One of my favorites.
DS 650, big and comfy
YFZ- Feels like a power wheels
LTR-Similar to a YFZ, but not quite as small feeling
KFX-Thought it would be small and wasn't too bad, rock seat. Egros are good but the quad feels as small as it's dimensions are.
DS- Egros are good for me, taller rider may need taller stem, but to me it feels similar to the 450r, I don't feel as "big" on it as other quads.

I'm 6-2 ... 250 ... Husky ... LOL!

Not the typical 450 rider, but that is kind of what I thought when sitting on it. Even standing on I didn't feel as thought I was overly leaning forward on it compared to others. A good +2 stem would be about perfect for me standing.

They aren't small, 20".. it's a good balance for overall use. I think that's about standard for all except the LT-R....
