Newbie needs Help

you guys are a wealth of information and I have appreciated everything I am learning from this forum. Now i have an 05 ds650x big gun cdi, procicuit pipe, and I just got in my Ron woods airbox eliminator. Called them today with a couple of questions and they said I really need to upgrade my carb tm45 or 48 (however $619 from them), what do you all think. Also they told me to just run my vent oil line to the ground. And to drill in my air line to the filter. Does everyone agree with that. I am just learning about mods so any and all help is appreciated.

get ahold of the bom you can go to his profile, and pm him you will find the answers you want, the carb up grade is good but probably better with some engine mods, did they turn you on to the clutch springs, want to make sure your getting that new power to the wheels. as far as the oil line guys have run thiers to the ground, to the chain, up the steering stem, they all seem to work. there was a few threads on a item called a catch can to recover the oil, save the enviroment thing. they make a little filter looks like a k@n that will fit into the end of the line, seen that a lot.

As far as a carb, check the garage thread on here, guy's are always looking to try something else and you can usually make a good deal. Or check the OMR carb summary thread and do those mods to your carb.

Sandman430 thanks for the input I have sent thebom a pm, and no I have not heard about the clutch springs. Any info on that would be greatly appreciated. Cynick, I spent about 30 minutes so far on the thread for the carb mods and so far keep seeing it mentioned that it seems to work better with airbox lid on, have I just not gone faar enough to where they have it without the airbox all together? Thanks guys!!!!

Get some Woods 60% springs for your clutch. Also I have done the stock carb mods with no airbox and it seems to run really good. It's a cheap mod and if it doesn't work just get an aftermarket carb.

the springs are cheap less than 30 dollars, just make sure you know the difference of foot pound and inch pound for torque settings, other than that there easy to change just make sure you align the clutch actuator properly. then get ready for a time of arm cramp until you get accustomed to them.
