Default HPR 730 or stock bore cams and headwork

I just sold some vintage stereo equipment on e-bay and made way more than I expected. Since it is like found money I figured I would blow it on the DS.

I am looking for Opinions on which route I should go.

The bike has a pipe Tm45 w/ported intake, woods cdi and 15/42 gearing w/520 chain and sprockets. It is mostly a duner, but carrying my 300 lb
*** up the hill I get beat by most. Looking for more..... I know I'll never be the fastest, but would like to at least be able to challenge those pesky bolt on 450's and rappys.

I am thinking of just getting the 730 and running that till I find some more scratch then doing the cams and porting. Will I see much of a difference with this setup or do I need cams and porting to make the 730 run well.

Or would I be better off doing the cams and having the head ported? would I need to redo the porting should I do the 730 later.

Reliability is a big factor as this is my only bike.

Help me out guys, before I blow this money on something else.

Thanks,
Jim

I personally like the way my stock bore runs, I would think that I would run with the stock bore, way more reliable.

I think at your weight you would be happier with the added torque from the 730. I have a stock bore/cams/porting that is a pretty good runner but I only weigh 180lbs.

Another vote for the 730. I love mine to death. Mine is done with stock cams and carb. You have the carb so you should have even more fun. Plus, boring it out removes 100 pounds. I didn't weigh the chips but I know it is true after riding it feels that much lighter!!!! Seriously, bang for the buck has to be worth it also. I heard they are cheaper now and I thought I saw you can get a casting and do the work yourself. The only down side is when you beat someone they say it is because of the displacement. If you beat someone with a 650 it is from tuning. More bragging rights.

Did i miss something somewhere?? boring out removes a hundred pounds???

man im a pretty big guy too, i tried it with the race head and cams first and it was a great improvement over stock, but if you want the arm ripping grunt, the big bore is the way to go for big guys. wait untill you get both, huge improvement over stock.

That amazes me since it is just the cylinder and my 5 year old son carries my stock one around for me He is way stronger then I thought. The 730 from OMW is not a bored out stocker either. It is a new jug casted to hold a larger piston for your greater displacement. The greater compression and light weight OMW pistons give greater revving speed, and yes that does make it feel way lighter.
