Default Ds650 or honda 450

this is my first post so bare with me. i have the opprtunity to buy either an 04 honda 450 sport quad or an 06 baja x ds 650. i ride in fields, dirt roads, sand pits, tight trails, and woods and do lots of steep hill climbing as well as some mild jumping. would the 450 be any better for any these than the ds. basically which one should i buy for this type of riding. thanks and sorry for the long post.

I guess that depends on you, do you want to muscle around a 500lbs beast or a 375lb beast in the woods. Both bikes are good, I personally would go with a DS but I'm kinda partial.

There is one thing I would look at. How big are you? I'm 6'6" 280# and my DS fits me like a glove and it's fun to ride, but at times I would like to have a 450 because they are light and fun to whip around. You'll just have to ride both around and see what you like.

That is the main question. What is your size? Are you a "bigger" or "average" sized rider. That will make a big difference. I know there are some smaller riders on the DS, but for pushing that beast in the trails and on dirt roads a little size and some decent arm strength are a huge bonus. I can tell you I am 6' and around 300lbs and I have ridden a lot of the other bikes and the DS just rocks and I would want nothing else.

all my friends tell me the ds is to wide but according to the spec charts its only wider than the 450 by about 1.6 inches.

Honestly I think you would enjoy the TRX. when my smaller buddies ride the DS they say they just have to hold on and let the DS do it's thing. With the TRX you can manhandle that thing. They are a lot of fun. I'm getting one for my wife so I can ride one once in a while.

At your size I would look more towards the 450 for sure.... It is wider then most the other bikes, and makes tech riding a bit more of a challenge, but I find that the fun part

being small on the ds isnt that bad of a think im 5'7" and 135 lbs and i ride basically everywhere and when it comes between the two i somtimes also wish i had a 450 but it seems like everytime i ride them they ride so harsh compared to the ds because ds has a much comfotable seat and suspension the ds is faster but also the 450 jumps better i guess i would go with the ds but it just depends on what your want from your quad
