Default Feasibility of jets and a sprocket on my DS650

Hello, I've got a 2005 DS650. I'm debating whether or not to get bigger jets for it, and maybe a one or two tooth lower sprocket in the front. Here are the mods so far:
-Rev box
- FMF Power Core IV slip-on
- K&N air filter
- 8 paddle skat-trak haulers for the sand

I'd like to be able to pull the hills in 3rd and 4th gear, i ride in the sand 90% of the time. It runs fine as it is, usually riding in dry air, 3,000-4,000 feet elevation. Would the jet kit really make a noticeable difference, given the air filter and pipe? And would one tooth lower in the front make much of a difference? I like to mob around in the woops and flats as well, I'm not aiming to make it a designated hill-climber, but a couple more mods to help me get there a bit faster wouldn't hurt

Yes, and Yes, the sprocket will make a world of difference, and if the bike is running fine since the pipe, I would check the spark plug color. If it is a chocolate brown then leave it alone. If not you probably could go one size bigger on the main and raise the needle to the forth clip.

Thanks for the input, sprocket is in the mail. The plugs look just fine, nice and light brown. I do want to run it minus the airbox lid, i took it off and fired it up and it dies at anything above idle, way too much air and no gas heh. Would bigger jets and no airbox lid make a noticeable performance gain? Or can I just cheat and richen up the mixture for a little more power? Sorry if my questions seem a little noobish, I'm very weary about spending my money

I have an 05 as well. The jets and Sprocket definetly made a difference on mine. Keep you eye on ebay, I have gotten most of my parts there or here on the garage link. The only real difference on mine and yours is I have an airbox eliminator. I did pick up a TM45 though and have to get it installed, can't wait. You should like the difference the sprocket makes!

The stock carb likes the airbox and lid there. I would highly recommend you look through and do the OMR carb mods. Great gains for little money. And then the sprocket change will be a large help for ya......

Right on, thanks again for the input. I know I won't beat yzf450's up the hills, I was debating selling my DS for one of those but I'm just too big. I feel like a monkey on a tricycle riding one of those, at 6'4" and 215 pounds the DS fits very well.

Actually, you would be suprised what a well tuned and lightly fixed up DS will beat up the hill

I've looked through the OMR mods and they don't look too hard to do. Would I be able to run it with the lid off of the airbox with bigger jets or would I have to do some custom needlework like in the OMR thread?

Hard to say. My bike with the stock carb, with the airbox removed and some tuning ran harder and better. However in contrast, my brothers bike (same exact mods) could never get dialed in to run hardly at all with the lid off....
