More on Turbos

Scooby, this link take you to the manufacturer of
the turbos that Steve uses.
http://www.aerocharger.com/
An interesting note is
the variable area turbine " for transient response without the turbo lag"
Apparently Steve has not harnessed this bit of technology as my bike does have turbo lag, 1-2 secs worth. If you are like me, you are going to want to pin the throttle and feel the power NOW!
That's one thing I love about my DS now , is that when I hit the throttle the power is there instantly , with the turbo the non-forced induction part of the rpm band ( up to about 4500 rpms) is actually less responsive than a stock DS because of the increased restriction to free air flow.
One solution, to enhance the responsiveness of the bike is to add a high/low boost switch,
see this link http://www.motorcycle.com/mo/mcharley/aeroturbo.html
I've not contacted them to see what the switch cost but it appears to be compatible. One other possible option to explore for hp gains might be water injection. http://www.racetep.com/wik.html#trbh20
If you find any other products that might enhance ones ownership experiance let me know.
ps. I tried to activate the link address like I have seen in some of your post, cut and paste directly or from word does't work - what do you do?

Majorecho, If I may ask.....where did you get your bars? I bend mine in a roll-over 2 weeks ago and called Rocky Mountain ATV for bar and said that they don't have any that'll fit. Did you order replacements(oem) or a close diam.&lengh?
Thanks for the help.

I'm afraid I'm not going to be a whole lot of help, I bent mine about 6 mos ago and wanted something stronger and lighter so I went to the biggest bike dealer in SLC and just compared my bars with what they had on the floor. A pair of 909's and the renthals were the closest I could find. I had to really snug the throttle control box and the brake resevoir together to make it feel comfortable. The stock DS has an unusual looking bend. If you like the looks of pro-tapers I believe that is the setup of the bars on the Ds that won the Baja

you've probably seen the pics but look close at the bars.
until the aftermarket players get on the bandwagon
you'll have to be creative or go w/stockers.
good luck.
One thing for sure, there will be demand for bars,
btw how did your headlight hold up?
I've had to replace mine twice now , there really should be some sort or guard around that thing OR I should probably quit rolling it - nah I'm having too much fun!

I replaced my bars with pro tapers from answer racing. The adapters that are required for the fatter bar to fit raise the bar enough to clear the tank when you turn lock to lock. That is the problem with most after market bars, they hit the tank when you turn the handlebars all the way right or left.Hope this helps

Majorecho,
I highly recommend this book:
www.bellengineering.net/maximumboost.html
I'm picking up a used daytona intercooler to send to Steve. I want to have the intercooler on there from the beginning. Steve says the increase in intake temperature due to the compressor makes the air less dense, so you loose power. By lowering the intake temperature through the intercooler you are making the air more dense, adding power.
