question about swingarm
#1
Can the swingarm be customized? by that i mean making it longer by welding a piece to it.
Here where i live there is a guy that has a blaster that he uses for racing (MX)(motorcross) and he did it to his. i think he added like three or four inches and it looks fine. i went to see him because one of my friends races too and he told me that he would do the swingarm of one of his quads as long as it wasnt aluminum. I thought it would be good to do it to mine just so it would be different, and since i dont really hit big jumps that often it wont break.

The easiest way to do it is cut the carrier and the pivot (where it connects to the frame) off on the stock swingarm and add the length you want to them with chromoly tubing my number 11 and 12 pics is one that i made on mrmeaner pics his number 7and 9 pics is a nother i made

ok. i guess they sell it the same here cause i ordered some for work and they only sold it in 20ft. also. when you ask for it, do you just ask for it as cromoly steel pipe? and how big 2" or 3" ?

I would think 1 1/2 would be as big as you would want to go... 2 or 3 inch would be huge, heavy, and IMO unnecessary. Also I'm not sure what bigbird used but you may want to look into DOM chromoly tubing for extra strength if you plan to get off the ground even a little.

DOM (drawn over mandrel) does not have a welded seem.

Actually I just checked and no one I could find makes mandrel drawn chromoly. Only DOM is mild steel.</end quote></div>
Check that.... found it... Check this out... I know DOM mild steel is twice as strong as seemed mild steel tubing... made out of chromoly would be you absolute strongest option... probably crazy pricy though.
