Ignition/ Rev box question

I have a woods and was leary of putting it on because I didn't want to over rev it on accident. My motor won't. It only revs about 8900 but wants to shift at 8600. So, don't expect mega revs, it just gives you that extra couple R's the motor wants. The advanced curve is supposed to be worth something but I didn't notice anything. My bottom line is: I wouldnt buy one but I had one so I run it.

The big gun was a marked improvement for me as well. Revs are mid 8000 range with it. See the above post for stock numbers. The needle clip needs to go 1 position lower (Raising & richening the needle) to compensate for the better burn of the Big gun cdi.

That's cool you noticed a gain [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img] I only hit the limit on it once when I got excited on a downhill and did not shift fast enough [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif[/img]
I noticed a huge difference in power and revs when I put my Big Gun on compared to stock. I was bouncing off of the stock one all the time. Now I never hit the limit. You must have another problem going on.</end quote></div>

Yea those are the rev limits, i was talking the motors redline, i think i got that from RWR. And the '02 Baja's had the higher rev limit from the '00-'01 [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

I'm just asking I read another post that stated the DS was
limited to 6,500 Rpm's and the big gun box raised it to 8,000
and an increase of two Hp becaue of the new timing curves?
I was also told the DS will rev all day at 10,000 Rpm's without
hurting the motor.
DS650 the best sport quad ever built and very affordable to buy used?
I bought a 2004 Baja X model this spring for when I want to see Jesus in fourth gear he opens up the clowds and says come-on Gary one more gear and you will
join us soon. I than realize it's not my time to go yet than I slow down to wait
for everybody else to catch up with me. Now that is a religious experience every time I ride that (Widow Maker)

my 02 has the factory cdi on it and the rev limit IS 7700 (well, says my tach) and as for the 10,000 rpm thing i don't know about that but i take my 03 to 9k all the time with 0 problems so far and not to mention a DS at 9k sounds pretty wicked = ]

yea those are the year / rev limits, u have an '04 so rev it out and watch it, it'll hit 7900 and cut out there. What i go by is that if redline is 8500rpms then u dont want the valves to float on ya and cause problems, some say the stock valves are pretty sturdy and can hit 10,000, but i wouldnt do that to my engine lol, unless u have a worked motor ur prob not making any more power that high anyway so theres no point to rev it up there, thats how i see it anyway
