How do you remove the axle on the DS? From what I can see you first have to back off the lock nut, remove the c-clip and unscrew the lock nut. Then knock the axle through the carrier a little. Then take the c-clip off the sprocket side, remove the sprocket hub and slide the axle out through the left hand side. If this is not the correct way or if you have any tips, please pass them on.

Thanks

I need to know this also. And if the assembly procedure is not the reverse of the disassembly procedure, let us know. My bearings need checking, but I haven't figured out how to get the axle out.

Scooby, do you have the shop manual? If not, let me know and I'll check for the procedure in mine tonight and let you know what it says.

I figuured it out. Its quite simple. 1)remove wheel and hub then remove brake caliper. 2)loosen and remove chain from rear sprocket. 3)back off axle lock nut(clockwise). 4)remove c-clip. 5)remove axle lock nut(counter clockwise). 5)pull brake disk and hub off of axle( there is an 0-ring in the hub so you have to pull pretty hard to get it over the lip the c-clip sits in. 6) knock axle out through the right side.
