2007 Renegade vs. 2008 Renegade
#1
Can anyone tell me what the differences are between the 2007 and 2008 Renegade 800's? The dealer told me nothing but wanted a little more input on this from someone who might know more. Reason is I can get a smoking deal on a 2007 but if there were some good improvements between the two years then I will pay the extra for the 2008.
Thanks

2008 changes:
- Dual brake levers (2007's had single brake lever)
- Slightly heavier weight (probably due to the changes)
- Faster engaging visco-lock
- Better sealed transmission housing
- Different suspension travel amount
- Different grips
Thats all I know of offhand. The 2009 800's will be '800R', and have 9% more power.

Excellent information. Not decided but leaning more to the 2008. The 2009 sounds good with the added power and I guess another color option (Red). But I will have to wait at least till mid August from my local dealer to get one. So many decisions to be made. Thanks!

The rear trailing arms are different also. If you don't plan on getting different shocks like the X shocks, then it won't matter. But if the X shocks are something in the future, they won't fit on the 07.

Ah yes, I was going to mention that also, the X shocks are wider, and the 2008's have notches to accomodate them. I believe also that the 2008 800 received some engine updates as well, 11% better fuel mileage and smoother throttle response from different EFI mapping, not sure if that was just on the Outlander 800 or included the 'Gade 800 as well.

Should be said though that you can swap the '07 arms for '08 arms on your Renegade to install the X suspension on a '07. I'm in the process of doing that right now. Arms are 150$ish each.
