Default Kid Needs Clutch Help DS650!!

Any body with some info or experience with clutch issues in 4/5 gears slipping when you give it gas the engine revs but sounds like its just breaking loose and no powers goin to the wheels.. this is clutch rite? i just got the 2000 DS650 a couple weeks ago and don't want to say tht i got screwed on the deal because i love the Bomber already and am looking at the barnett 9 disk clutch. any one know of any sites with it under $190? its stock exept a uni filter. so did the previous owner rod the crap outa it or is it natural to need a new clutch on a 2000??

Needing a new clutch on a 2000 in nothin new. I haven't found the Barnett for any cheaper than you say but it is a good clutch so I recommend it. Go for it.

Yep time for a clutch, just put mine in barnett with 60% RW springs, love it. It was my first time and it took me 2 hours not really that hard if you take your time.

With no mods you really don't need the Barnett set. I'd invest in a new set of stock plates, grab a set of RWR 60% springs and call it good. Going with the 60% will leave you with plenty of room for mods in the future should you decide to go that route.

Well ordered a clutch kit from motoman http://www.moto-man.com/Barnet...ts--ATV_p_521-119.html ">moto man clutch kit</a> got it for 184. thougth it was a fair deal. can't wait to get the ds back and up. also got a motion pro twist throttle set up and a "Advantage rev Max" cdi coming in. also as far as oil goes i was wanting to run synthetics in her?? but have heard some mixed reviews. any body run full syn? i know friction inhibitors are a no no and was wondering if i could just run a quality syn such as amsoil or schaeffers oil.
Thanks for the feed back!

If it has run nothing but Bomb oil in it since new then it has synthetic in it. I run Honda HP-4 in mine and it runs great.

I run HP-4 as well, no issues. I may be wrong but when I first read your original post I thought shift forks... have you ever gotten a false neutral... meaning getting into neutral between gears other than 1/2. Seems to me a bad clutch would also slip in other gears.

Yeah so got the clutch and opened it up and the guys sent me just the plain jane 8 disk and so i fedexed that back and got it cleared up and.... got my rev box in
today and turns out its for a 03-07' :'(. so we wait.. i love the new twist throttle though. But "FatHolly" you say shift forks how bad is that compaired to a clutch. I think there might be some more badd stuff i installed the throttle and took it out to get used to it and heard a sound like a rock stuck in some where and there was no rock.. could it be a broken shift fork?

Bad shift fork means cracking open the cases... not good... but I would only think shift fork if its falling out of gear or finding a false neutral. I thought your original post said something about slipping out of 4th and 5th. Replace the clutch and see what you've got. If you still have issues you may want to start thinking about other probs, but start with the clutch.
