Howdy! Been having a problem with my ds650 kinda new to the bike had it for 3 years and never rode it much and bought it used (abused?) but have been having this problem for a couple of days, comeing home with it stalled out like it ran out of fuel it was low so i jsut thought it was that put it on reserve started with no problems and made it home. So i filled it up and went out the next day and it died like it was staving for fuel six times taking five minites to get it runnign again for it to die again (vaccume leak?), felt liek it was running really lean, also when starting bike for the days ride it started without the choke which it usally does not. I checked my spark plugs and there a beautiful chocolate brown, ripped carb apart looked pretty gunked up, cleaned oil screen, bought new air filter, new spark plugs, fuel line, changed oil to synthetic and rad fluid changed gas to fresh cheap stuff with fuel stabilizer and clean the petcock. Before i put it back together is there anything else i should be checking, like vlave clearance? or condition of cylinder head and rings Pressure test? Also thinking about buying hmf slipon dyno jet kit and after market cdi box can anyone give me some reviews on these products and if they recommend them or not. im sure i will have my problem fixed tongiht but the extra input always helps. Thanks guys. glad i got 2 back up bikes not happy about the extra debt tho lol

I would say the running problem is the gunk in the carb, if it does it again check the vent lines on the tank and make sure they are not kinked or pinched. As far as rev boxes and slipon exhaust goes. I went with a Vortex rev box, I have heard good things about a Big Gun and the HMF should do great.
