hello,
i'm a new menber of this forum, 36 y.o,i'm leaving in france, apparently there is a lot of users of the renegade 500 here.
i would like to have your opinion about it, particularly in the performance subject.
i plan to buy the 500, but some people say to me that the z400 suzuki is faster than the renegade 500...
what do you think about it?
true or false?
thank you
ps: sorry for my bad english.

completely different quads. i have no experience with the renegade 500 but a friend of mine has a Z400 and i think its a great little quad, its really light and nimble in the trails, the new ones come with good shocks and suspension and it flies really well but it is a small quad, if your not a big guy you'll be fine but if your 6ft tall its not big enough. Just get a renegade 800 X package and bypass this decision

thank you for yours reply, well, i know this is a completly differents quads, but i have tried a 800x, and before i would like to buy a z...
but the 800x is out of my budget..., in france it cost more than 22000$....
but i can find the 500 at a good price in used conditions, just a little more than a new ltz (10000$).
i am very impressed by the renegade, so i'm in the doubt... but i can't try the 500...and i don't know his performance vs ltz.
the z is a very good quad too, with a low cost in france. and i'm not a big and tall man ;-)
i just search a compromise between perf, cost, fiability, and design (gade won at this subject!).
thank you again for your help.

The main question is what are you going to use it for? I am not sure on top speed, but both will be pretty fast, and there will be others faster. Since you are in France, I am going to assume that it will be used on road, and probably used mostly on road? If you don't need the 4x4 capabilities of the 'Gade, then I would get the Z400. For road running, the Z will be lighter, more responsive. Also the chain drive means you can gear it up for higher top speeds.
If you will be using it offroad, AND need/want the 4x4 capabilities, then by all means get the 'Gade. But if you don't, then you will probably have more fun with the Z.
Oh, and the 'Gade is the obvious choice if you will ever be wanting to haul/tow anything. And even if you ride the quad offroad, unless you need the 4x4/IRS the Z should still provide plenty of fun.

hello krait, thank you for your advise.
i use it for offroad only, in a private field for 4x4/quad,woods, or in a long hike in the vine, hike sport/endurance race sometimes, i'll plan to do a baja500kms next year...
near bordeaux, the countryside is very wet in winter and in the spring, and sometimes it's very difficult to ride in 4x2.in fact, sometimes good way for high speed, and sometimes difficults wet parts with climbs,or big wet rut in the woods...that's the reason i look the renegade, typically sport 4x4 quad.
i have seen some people who are disappointed by the 500 with the performance between a sport quad like the z,but it's difficult to find someone who have tried it together.

these are completely different quads. I would guess the Renegade 500 will be close to it strictly in a speed perspective but these quads do NOT ride or perform a like.
What are you using it for ? Where are you riding?

The Z is actually quite comfy for big guys. More comfy than any 450 I've sat on. I'm 6'6" and it fits just fine. But to answer the original question, it's all about how and where you ride, so you'll have to make your decision based off that.

Yeah I would agree with the others in comparing apples to oranges.......
In a flat out race, the z400 would beat a Renegade 500...... but who cares about drag racing anyway? (no offense draggers)..... It's not like in the woods a Renegade 500 would get dusted by a z400.... in the woods it would be all rider....
The 800 is another story as I've heard those suckers will run with 450 race machine from 0-60 ...

Hmm, kind of tough then. I would say a 'Gade would give you a blast, but if you aren't happy with the power, then its an expensive machine to not like. I would really try to find one you can get a little seat time on, even if its just for a couple minutes so you can see how the power is. Otherwise you could always put some aggressive 22" tires on the Z...
Also, even if someone else finds the 'Gade 500 weak on power, doesn't mean you will. Just something to think about as well...sounds like a 'Gade will have you covered for the wet months, but only the 800 will guarantee you to have amazing power...
