Default 2006 DS650 baja vs. any other quad

I ride in the mountains of Co and can tell you that you would not be happy with a 450 quad you need something that can lug which the 450 class of quad will not due. They just build there power way to high in the RPM band to be any fun for trail riding. For this style of riding you want a good 400 class or big bore (THUMPER) quad. To each his own but I know I would never buy a 450 for this kinda riding as there are much better choices to be had!

Oh, I know I wouldn't buy a 450 quad. I was just saying that if I were to get into serious racing on a track, then I would get a 450.

I felt the same way when i had set on the first one i have a trx 450r honda and the wheel base is the same lenghth and width ? i think the reason behide it is the stock handle bars that came on the ds i call them ape hangers cause thats what they feel like i put shorter ones on and it dont feel so funny any more. im 5'8" at a 190 and i love the ride as for the polaris i cant help never rode one or set on one.

The polardasses are un reliable and theres no point to get a raptor cause you said u wouldnt have enough money to mod it. No point gettin a 400 cause they dont have enough power, and theres no point in gettin a 450 for how ur riden unlss u do want to start racing. I think that you would be best getin the DS

I hope you didn't come in here expecting unbiased answers! Usually topics like this stay pretty informative but I see the children have been let loose on this one. By all means AVOID the Raptor at all cost, 660 or 700, unless you only plan on riding in 30 minute spruts before requiring a Chriropractor to adjust you ***.
In all seriousness, each and every quad has it's pros and cons and you have to utilize your group of riding friends to ride as many different options as you can and then decide which is best for you. I can tell you after having ridden everything under the sun that by far the most comfortable SPORT quad on the market is the DS. I cruised an Outlander and was quite impressed by the comfort level but it probably would not be the bike for my riding style, although I did enjoy my time on it.
The weight of the DS is what makes it about the best value on the market. That weight adds up to dependability, reliability, ruggedness, basically they're bulletproof. I have seen some that were thrashed and not taken care of or maintained that didn't fare as well, but with normal TLC and routine maintenance they cannot be beat. And parts are readily available, just a little more costly than the "Big 4".
