Not sure what you mean by "needle pin". Are you referring to the needle that fits into the slide that goes into the top of the carb? If you can describe what you are referring to a little more clearly, I'm sure someone will try and help you.

Are you talking about the stock Mikuni 42mm? I don't know what you mean by turning it out or in. They should be held in by a clip that comes off and goes back on. You'll need to give us more detail and maybe pics.

I would turn it all the way in and screw 2 1/4 out to start with stab the thumb throttle to see if it stumbles if you are talking about the set screw i would also use the run and check spark plug to see if lean or rich method white for lean black for rich and tan for about right

Set your screw around 1.5 turns out. Once warm and idling - slowly turn it out until RPMs drop, them slowly turn it in until the RPMs drop and set the screw between these two point.

WOW! So many answers with so many options. So we've got ideas on the idle adjustment screw, the air/fuel mixture screw, and the needle for the main jet. Wonder which one it will turn out to be??? I was leaning towards the needle myself and have to concur with John that the clip is what moves the needle in or out.
I'll check back later to see where this goes.

ya man, 1 1/2 turns out. you mean the air/fuel screw. You wnt 11/2 tunrs out. tuurn the screw all the way in then back it out 11/2 turns. Thats what you use stock. and thats what you use jetted to the max. ex. 185-200 main jet.
