I have been communicating with a gal named Doris at Snotrax and she has explained that they will be building a kit for the DS next winter. For those of you who are not familiar with their products, read the article in Feb "Dirt Wheels" mag on the Snotrax banshee conversion. I had the front skis only on a 400 sport a few years ago and had a blast w/it. If any one else is interested visit their site at

and e-mail them your interest
I've included the e-mail she sent me today that gives further details
Thank you for your inquiry regarding our Sno-Traxx conversion kit. The DS650
has had numerous requests and we plan to add that ATV to our R&D list for
next year.
Right now, our company is in the process of restructuring and we are unable
to quote prices or availability of units at this time. For the last five
years we have built our Sno-Traxx by hand and we were limited to the number
of orders we could take. It was also costly. Our kits sold for $2,495 (2x4's)
and $2,595 (4x4's with skis on the front and track on the back). The shipping
and handling costs would not exceed $142 any where in the United States,
except Alaska and Hawaii.
By the end of May, we will have more information available for you. When
the changes in the company are completed, the units will be manufactured. Our
costs should be reduced and production increased. Our goal is to lower the
cost to our customers.
Your ATV with the skis and tracks installed will climb a steeper hill and make
tighter turns than a snowmobile would. However, on a straight-away, the
snowmobile will outpace you. You will loose about 5% of the speed with the
track system on your ATV. The weight is approximately 150 pounds. After
removing your tires and installing the Sno-Traxx you add about 90 pounds. The
width will be 3 to 4 inches wider in the rear than a standard machine. It
will vary depending on the type of ATV. The tracks are especially made for us
by Camoplast (they make tracks for Polaris, Artic Cat and Ski Doo) and are
1/4 inch thick with 3 ply cording. The tracks are 80 inches long and 12
inches wide with 3/4 inch paddles. With the twin tracks you will have 638
square inches of track on the ground. A standard snowmobile has 525 square
inches at a time.
If you would provide us with your name and address, we would be glad to add
you to our database to contact when we have a definate price and delivery
date available.
We appreciate your interest in our product and look forward to helping you
take your ATV out of hibernation soon.
Sincerely,
Doris Mack

no, I had other commitments, however I am planning on going down to the dunes a week from this coming Saturday. I'll be going with a coupla other guys but if you want to hook up down there that'll be cool.
If I had to choose between all the pipes out there I'd go for either the Graydon or the Big Gun. I'd like to see a pipe shoot out for the DS like Dirt Wheels did for the 400ex and then we'd have some thing more than mere opinion. For looks I'd go with the Graydon I love the red anodize silencer. If I was keeping my original 2000 DS I'd start over with that pipe.
