Default Ds450

So, how are they holding up guys? I'm going to be back in the market for an atv after I get settled in my house. Sucks giving up toys! Anyways, my last bike was an LTR450, and it was awesome, but since I ride mostly trails, it was a little wide sometimes, and no reverse was inconvenient but not terrible. Anyways, I've noticed some leftover '08 DS's for around $4k! I was going to buy used, but what's the point at these prices?? Anyways, I'm looking at the DS, KFX, Outlaw 525S, maybe a Z400 again. So, I've been a Suzuki guy lately, but all the new bikes are great, and I'm open to any of them. Just asking for some owner's honest feedback. I've never ridden one, so it's hard to choose based on specs.

I've heard on the DS450 forums that no 450 touches the handling, plushness, and comfort of a DS450. They have had their problems like any other 1st year quad but in 09 they worked most of the bugs out. They don't have reverse though like you were saying you'd like to have. In my opinion you can't go wrong with that Outlaw 525S. The KTM motor has lots of torque and has reverse. Perfect for what you're doing. DubaiPolaris has one and he'll probably add his 2 cents here.

Thanks for an honest answer, that's exactly what I'm looking for. Yeah, I'd probably get more feedback about the DS or any other bike on a model-specific forum, but I'm already a member here. Reverse isn't a need be, but of course it would be convenient. Yeah, the prices I was looking at are all '08 models, so it'd prob have some bugs. Are they recalls, things Can-Am will fix? I'll probably be happy with any of the bikes I'm looking into, but I figure might as well get one that suits me best.

Runs a 730 kit from OMW with web109's and a 48mm lectron. It has some serious torque!

For 4k you'd be nuts not to buy one. I paid around 7k for mine(back in 08) and i think i got a good deal. They are nice bikes, ride and handle like a dream, and if you want some good power a pipe and air filter really wakes them up.

Don't know how they are holding up but I know the new mags are showing the 2010 ds450s to have the most horsepower. Not sure what they did to boost power but could be worth researching.
