Not all Outlanders are hard to shift and those that are usually have an issue with shifter alignment, need for gear oil change or clutch one way problems. Is yours hard to shift? No need to fix something that ain't broke.

The one way bearing in the clutch is the problem. To change them is not a problem. Pull the big cover off, its best to remove the foot rest & plastic under foot rest. Pull Clutch bolt, remove outer part of clutch. The belt will be tight on the one way bearing. Remove the belt, then gently slide the one way bearing off the clutch shaft, watch for the 2 pucks to appear when sliding the 1 way bearing off, they are spring loaded, when they start to appear hold them in place, then finish removing the 1 way bearing. The 2 bearings that have to be replaced are inside each end. One will come right out, the other has a light duty wire keeper holding it in, remove it, then remove the bearing.
You will need to get 2 new bearings # 6808-2rs. Get them from VXB.COM they cost $14.
The problem is, the bearings that come from Can-Am are to stiff, the 6808's from VXB are a lot more free turning. Install these bearing and put it back together. You will need a little light grease on it, I used White lithium.
This will cure the hard shifting problem, we have 2 650 Outlanders, the first one took me 1 1/2 hours, the next one took 45 minutes.
There is a post on this form, with a video of this process, its listed on the post " Some Questions "

yes it is hard to shift it's been like this sence day one. so i don't think a gear oil change will do anything. so ill have to try adjusting it or replace the bearings for the one way. i found them on vxb.com for $14 each.
