DS250 clutch tuning
What are you looking to accomplish?
The DS250 has a CVT clutch with a belt (like a snowmobile), therefore it is tuneable by changing the springs and weights to achieve the performance characteristics. It is not adjustable without changing parts.
The DS250 comes from the factory very subdued and dosile, engine rev's way below peak power. It benefits immensely from a clutch kit from Full Power Performance. I installed one and it was night and day difference, now actually climbs hills without struggling, takes off harder and faster, and is quicker by 2-3 quad lengths in a 500 feet drag. The response is incredible because it backshifts wicked fast.
We initially had experimented with lightening of the roller weights, which raised the RPM's up, but because it used the stock clutch springs it still took off at the same RPM and had slow backshift so it still didn't respond fast enough to on-off-on throttle scenarios (bogging).
I posted a review here of this clutch kit after we tested it.
