Default TM45 Cable Issue

So today I recieved and installed my new TM45 carb, ported intake and twist throttle kit from Ron Woods. Everything was going well until I went to put the gas tank back on. I have read other threads that said it runs to the right side of the tank but that would require a severe bend in the cable since it mounts to the carb so close to the back of the tank. Should the cable have come with a 90 degree bend or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

Thanks for the pic Stir, I'm glad to see that your cable is in the same location as mine but do you have spacers between your gas tank and the frame to allow the cable to pass under the tank. If I were to do that it would require aprox 1 inch spacer to avoid tank interference.

I run the IMS 5 gallon tank with 3/16 in spacers. I do not remeber if I ran my TM with a stock tank.

So does this mean that those of you who are running the TM45 that the cable is down low when it passes over the crossmember, because my set up has the cable being about 3/4" from bottom of cable to crossmember and about 1" from top of cable down to crossmember. I have loosed both hose clamps on carb to intake hose and tried to lower the carb but it won't go down any more than that.

Thanks for your help!

I think I bent the cable mount on the carb down a little to get it right on top of the crossmember.

If the carb was back a inch or so that might be possible, but as it sits you would have to cut off the other cable reciever to get any real bend in it. The cable mount is almost flusy with the crossmember. Did you pull the carb back out of the intake hose, or maybe you have a longer intake hose, mine is just under 2" long.

I will try to get a picture from the side today. I have a Ron Wood TM45 with the extended neck and it is butted up to the intake.

Okay, mystery solved. When all else fails read the manual. By looking in my service manual I found that there are indeed spacers that belong onder the rear of the gas tank, thus allowing the throttle cable to pass directly under the tank. Now all I have to do is find them.
Thanks for your help Stir!

i used 2 pieces of 1/4 X 1 1/2 aluminumunder my ims tank. i extended the bottom piece out to support the seat where it touched the frame. i found that when i sat high on the seat(to the front) it would flex enough to bind the cable. this stopped the problem. i did run a tm45 withthe stock tank.
